About the exhibition
The Association of Visual Arts Organisations in Uusimaa (Uudenmaan Kuvataidejärjestöt ry, UKJ) is an umbrella organisation for artists' associations and art societies operating in Southern Finland. Its aim is to promote the position of visual arts and to serve as a network connecting its member organisations.
UKJ organises the Visiittinäyttely (Visiitti Exhibition) almost every year. The local art association in the town or city hosting the exhibition acts as the event's host organisation. All works selected for the exhibition have been approved by the exhibition curator through a jury selection process.
In 2026, the Visiitti Exhibition will take place in Porvoo, in the historic Näsi Manor.
Näsi Manor – a place steeped in history
Located on Näsinmäki Hill in Porvoo, Näsi Manor was among the ten largest manor estates in Uusimaa in the 16th century. The present main building was most likely constructed between 1810 and 1830, although its architecture reflects the Gustavian style of the 18th century. Among the manor's best-known owners were Näse-Jutte and his son, the mayor Calle Holm.
A large glacial erratic known as Näsin Kivi (Näsi Stone) holds many stories and continues to serve as a scenic viewpoint. The wooded parkland of Näsinmäki has inspired artists and delighted visitors for centuries.
The Näsi estate remained in private ownership until the 19th century, although the town had expressed an interest in expanding towards the Näsi area since the 17th century. Carl Magnus Holm, the son of Näse-Jutte, was the manor's last private owner before it was transferred to the City of Porvoo in 1883. Since then, the city has rented out the manor for residential use as well as for various other purposes, including offices and exhibitions.
