Described Works – Change of Form

This collection emerges from movement, observation and the study of form.

The process begins with charcoal drawings in which I examine the body in motion. The dancing figures are not finished shapes but starting points — moments where movement alters the structure of the body and opens new directions.

From these observations, simplified forms take shape. Forms that detach from the body yet carry its rhythm, weight and motion.

The forms then shift into three‑dimensional work. Garments are constructed from these shapes, often from a single piece of fabric. Cutting and sewing are not merely technical steps but part of the thinking around form: how a surface turns, settles and creates space around the body.

Some materials are monochromatic and structural, while others carry the trace of drawing. Patterns born from charcoal sketches are transferred onto fabric through digital printing, allowing the original movement and rhythm of the line to continue within the material.

The whole does not progress linearly from one form to another. Instead, it grows through parallel explorations. Abstract drawings, figurative studies and finished garments converse with one another. The same movement may appear as a line, a surface or a three‑dimensional structure.

Transformation of form is not only an outcome. It is a process in which form emerges, dissolves and rebuilds itself.

Change of Form is a Master of Arts thesis from 2016, in which I used 3D modelling software as part of the design process. I drew organic shapes inspired by dancing figures and brought them into a 3D program, where I designed the patterns used to construct the garments.
