AI as a Creative Partner - From Sketch to Finished Painting
Creativity has always been a journey into the unknown. It is curiosity, experimentation, and unexpected discoveries. Traditionally, artists have sketched their ideas on paper, shaped characters in their imagination, and built visual worlds piece by piece.
For me, this process has gained an entirely new dimension through AI.

Ai as a Tool in the Sketching Phase
At the moment, I am painting an imaginative series of portraits featuring cats, frogs, and rubber ducks.
My process always begins with an idea. For example, I might suddenly imagine a zebra-striped frog wearing horns and steampunk-inspired accessories, sitting on a floral cushion in a room covered with flower-patterned wallpaper.
Sometimes these ideas appear in a constant stream. Often right when I'm about to fall asleep — forcing me to get back up just to write every idea down before it disappears.
In the past, sketching an idea like this would have required a great deal of time and experimentation. Now, I use AI during the sketching phase.
I feed my ideas into the system and see what kinds of images it generates. If something sparks my imagination, I use it as a reference and begin painting a highly detailed, almost photographic work by hand.
AI and the Artist's Imagination
AI does not replace me as an artist, but it expands my perspective.
Sometimes the generated images contain details I would never have thought of myself. In that sense, AI functions almost like a visual conversation partner — suggesting ideas without dictating them.
Many people assume that AI "does the work for me," but in reality it is simply one tool among many. The images it generates still need to be filtered, refined, interpreted, and ultimately painted by hand.
The process remains deeply personal: the idea, the painting itself, the refinement of details, and the construction of the final atmosphere all come from me.
Creativity in the Age of Technology
AI is discussed constantly, and within the art world it often creates both excitement and fear. Personally, I see it as an opportunity.
It does not erase human creativity — if anything, it can help nourish and expand it.
Already during my Master's thesis, I explored how technology could support the creative process. At that time, 3D modeling functioned as a tool in fashion design. Today, AI serves as a visual assistant in my painting practice.
Technology does not limit creativity. Instead, it offers new tools for expressing it.
I believe that in the future, more and more artists will discover ways of using AI to enrich their own creative work. It is not a threat to traditional art, but a new way of developing ideas and exploring imagination.
How do you feel about the relationship between AI and creativity?
